Firefox Allows You to Chat and Check Notifications of Facebook without Opening it

Now Chat while you browse and also See new comments, photo tags and other stuff instantly.

The latest update of Firefox (17.0 and up) has brought in the new Social API which brings the Facebook Messenger into Firefox and allows you to check Facebook Notifications and chat from the browser on any webpage without opening Facebook.

This move has left many Socially tagged web browsers like Rockmelt which were specially designed to integrate Social Networking into daily web browsing. Firefox likes to give its users too many choices always hence this feature is highly optional and doesn't come as default with the latest Firefox update so you have to enable it manually to enjoy it.

Steps to Enable Facebook Messenger on Mozilla Firefox

Step 1: Download Firefox if you don't have from here otherwise update your Firefox to the latest version, To do this Click on Help -> About Firefox, It will automatically start updating itself if its not already updated. You need to restart the browser in order to complete the update so Save any important work on the browser.

Step 2: After finishing update and restarting, Visit the Facebook Firefox Messenger Page. Click on the Big Green Turn On button. You will get the popup on the Firefox near the Google Search Box.

Step 3: You have successfully installed the Facebook Firefox Messenger, Now you should have got the Chat Sidebar, Notifications, Message Inbox and Friend Request buttons on the Firefox Toolbar.

Note : The Facebook button with the FB Logo can be used to Enable/Disable the Facebook Firefox Messenger. Show/Hide Facebook Chat and Desktop Notifications. The chat sidebar is re-sizable and can be turned off from the Fb button if its getting in the way of your normal browsing.

You have to login to your Facebook once in order for this API to work well, After that just fly away from the Facebook site and you will still be notified of any Notifications,Messages,Friend Requests and Chat from the browser itself.

I always try my best to share all the knowledge I've with you guys. You can always share your opinions with me in comments.
